Vaya Health supports dedicated clozapine clinics to ensure access to quality treatment for chronic psychotic disorders. Clinics help ensure members have access to quality behavioral health treatment.

What is clozapine?

Clozapine is an atypical antipsychotic primarily used for treatment-resistant schizophrenia. For more information, review our Clozapine Provider Training in the Vaya Learn Portal.

Who is eligible for clozapine?

Clozapine may be appropriate for individuals who:

  • Have treatment-resistant schizophrenia and do not respond to other antipsychotic medications
  • Are diagnosed with schizophrenia or a schizoaffective disorder and have a severe risk of self-harm, with recurrent suicidal behavior
  • Have a severe mood disorder, such as bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder, with persistent symptoms
  • Have agitation/aggression and psychosis associated with severe or refractory dementia
  • Have psychosis and Parkinson’s disease
